Some parts of my dry cracked hands, have healed, at least to the point where I could knit comfortably. However there is this one split on my right middle finger, that is just a nasty sort of painful. I did however, trudge through, and got a little knitting done last night while we watched A History Of Violence (don't bother...it was so completely predictable). I started out with the re-knit of Badcaul, but it was a bit much (teeny US1 needles poking my fingertips...ouch!) I made it through two cable repeats but couldn't do any more than that.
Then I picked up Amber (which I neglected to blog about last week) After Richard left for Syracuse for that one week, I needed something totally mindless to knit at night. This was it! I'm actually nearly done with it. And no yarn purchase was required (odd ball Lambs Pride leftovers...amythest, khaki, and creme) This was also pefect movie watching knitting. I was already past the chart and raised ridges...just straight circular stockinette (how much more mindless can you get?) I expect to finish this tomorrow if I can squeeze in some knitting time.
On the home front, a lot got done today. We headed out early to get some window coverings (err..mere mini blinds) for the bedrooms and living room. One bedroom and the living room are done, meaning 7 of 10 windows are so far done. The other three need to be exchanged for a larger size. And I would have bought another three blinds for the office, but the store was out of the size/color I wanted for that room.
We got the kid's bedrooms, for the most part, straightened out and put together. There are still some things needing to be put away. And honestly, I haven't brought out any of the bins/boxes of toys yet. Tomorrow we need to fix the canopy on Cassidy's bed and move around some more boxes, but I think I can cross off kid rooms from my list.
I also said goodbye to my beloved GE Prodigy washer. Since my baby has been replaced, I put her on the local Freecycle list for someone else to fix, use and love. She was picked up this afternoon by a family that can fix her themselves after they buy the part. Seriously, its all a little corny, but I friggin' loved that washer. I actually gave it a hug before it left. I bought that washer in 2000, after shopping around for a washer that would fulfill our needs as cloth diapering parents, and spent as much as our budget would allow. Yeah, your all laughing at me but I'll tell you...I loved that washer about as much as I love my husband, children, yarn stash and my treadles. It was very difficult for me to watch it drive away to a new home.
Back to knitting...While we were out this morning, we tried to stop at a yarn store, so I could buy a US1 Addi Turbo (to replace the icky US1 Inox I've been using) but the store is now closed...the one next to Marshall's Mega Store on Erie Bvd. Central NY knitters...is there a store within reasonable driving distance that carries Addi Turbo needles? I hate to order online when I can buy in town! I've been to the one on Burnet last summer, and she didn't have turbos either. What other fibery goody stores are there in Syracuse?
So we rented RENT this weekend. Duuuude....I haven't listened to the soundtrack in quite a while. I completely forgot just how much I love this play, (and what a freaking GENIUS Jonathan Larson was.) And I think Chris Columbus did a fine job adapting it.
